A commission is the document that seats a confirmed nominee. “Appointed” on the court bio may mark a swearing-in or a chambers date. The court page does not explain the gap. Twelve weeks after the FJC commission date he issued the February 13, 2025, temporary restraining order that H.Res. 174 later named. That arithmetic uses the FJC date. If the court bio’s December 2 date is the start of service, the gap is shorter. Either way, he was new.
