The Senate Judiciary Committee held a nominations hearing on February 8, 2024. The committee page lists Amir H. Ali to be United States District Judge for the District of Columbia among the nominees. Congress.gov records the same hearing date on PN1402.

On March 7, 2024, the committee reported the nomination favorably, without printed report. The committee’s own results sheet records the roll call as 11–10. Congress.gov: “Reported by Senator Durbin, Committee on the Judiciary, without printed report.” Calendar No. 539.

Senator Lindsey Graham’s questions for the record asked whether Ali is a United States citizen and whether he has been a citizen of another country. Ali answered yes to both. He listed “United States of America, 2019 to present. Canada, 1985 to present.” Those are his written answers. They are not a finding about later orders.

A committee report is not cloture. It is not confirmation. The floor votes came in November.
